Q and A, Meet the Cast & Exclusive Film Screening
Thank you for your support with our Anna and the Apocalypse film event, in aid of the Bone Cancer Research Trust.
Unfortunately, due to events beyond my control I am going to have to cancel this year’s event, in the hope I can relaunch the event next year as it will be the film's 5th Anniversary.
This year, as the last, has brought its own set of challenges, and rather than postpone again, I think it’s best to cancel and restart next year. All ticket holders will be refunded by TicketWeb.
The raffle however will go on, and all money raised will be donated to Bone Cancer Research Trust. The raffle is due to close on the 11 December 2021, unless all tickets are sold before this date.  If you wish to continue to support Bone Cancer Research Trust you can do so by entering the raffle at https://bit.ly/raffleaata

It is with a heavy heart that I make this decision, and I have thought about different options and work arounds to no avail, and I apologise for the disappointment to many, to our guests John McPhail, Mark Benton and Ben Wiggins who have been extremely supportive throughout, to Blazing Griffin, especially Naysun and Lauren from Blazing Griffin who have been tremendous and generous, through to Second Sight, Reel Cinemas, Vertigo Releasing, TicketWeb, Doubletree Hilton Hull to those who have supported the event from the very beginning.

I would also like to personally thank Alan McDonald, Abi Clark, Peter Greenwood and James Hogarth for their help and support too.
This is disappointing for everyone and I hope you can understand.

Best Wishes,
Michael Smith

Why Bone Cancer Research?
Someone knows someone who has suffered from cancer, a friend of mine currently is undergoing treatment for it and I also have a work colleague who has it too.  After hearing of co-writer Ryan McHenry’s sudden demise of Bone Cancer, I decided to learn more of this particular disease as it isn’t a well-known particular form of cancer. Every ten minutes somewhere in the world someone is diagnosed with primary bone cancer, yet it remains under-researched and under-funded.  Due to the lack of research there have been no significant improvements to primary bone cancer survival rates for thirty years.  This event will help raise both awareness and much needed funds as the Bone Cancer Research Trust, which is based in Leeds, Yorkshire, receives no government funding so relies heavily on fundraising.

After seeing Anna and the Apocalypse last year I had the idea of a charity screening.  After seeing the documentary it was obvious that Ryan McHenry touched many people and he lives on through them.  The film has been described by many as having heart, which it does, however I would say that it also tells a story of hope.  Hope of overcoming loss.  Hope overcoming travesty. I suppose ultimately, hope surviving a zombie invasion against the odds at Christmas, the season of hope.

Hope is behind every person, their family and friends, who are diagnosed with Bone Cancer which can occur at any age.  It is unusual in that it mostly affects children, teenagers, young adults and elderly people.  On average 12 people every week are diagnosed across the UK and Ireland.

I hope you will decide to join us for this unique charity screening!

ABOUT THE FILM
A zombie apocalypse threatens the sleepy town of Little Haven - at Christmas - forcing Anna and her high school friends to fight, sing and slash their way to survival with a fast-spreading undead horde in relentless pursuit.

Teaming up with her best friend John, Anna and her crew fight their way through zombified snowmen, a ravenous bachelor party and high school hormones to try and save family and faculty alike. But they soon discover that no-one is safe in this new world, and the only people they can truly rely on are each other.
